Why Clarity exists
Most photo apps treat your files as inventory — sortable, deduplicatable, vaguely searchable. Apple Photos is fine for casual users. Lightroom is built for studios. Gemini deletes duplicates. Keepsafe hides the embarrassing ones. None of them sit with you when life happens — when you need every file about your late grandmother for a memorial site, or every document mentioning your name for a GDPR request, or every photo your ex-partner appears in to give them their archive.
Clarity exists because that gap was personal. After organizing 50,000+ photos across 15 years and four devices for a family memorial — by hand, over a weekend — it became clear that the missing app was a "digital life manager", not another photo viewer. So I built it.
The result is 119,000+ lines of Swift, 134 source files, every line written by a single person between January 2025 and May 2026. Apple Vision for face recognition. CryptoKit for the vault.
